Benban solar park is a power complex of 41 solar power plants being developed in Benban with a total capacity of 1650 MW , located in the Aswan governorate in the western desert, approximately 650 km south of Cairo and 40 km northwest of Aswan, Egypt. Benban is touted to become the biggest solar photovoltaic park in the world.
Safe zone was the health, safety, environmental and social (HSES) consultant for Benban solar park, creating and implementing the health and safety management systems and provide risk mitigation to prevent project interruption.
State-owned New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) is overseeing the 1.8GW project, which includes a number of small solar power plants being developed by different companies at a total cost of $4bn.
